Welcome to COLA Rainbow Tarot. I am Rodney Boudreaux, and I have been studying the Tarot for several years. I have done reading spreads for myself and for specific circumstances for others. Now I want to bring the ideas and knowledge of the Tarot to you.

I identify as non-binary, and I know that the challenges I face are unique to my experiences and to this time and place. The community I most identify with, the LGBTQIA+ community, faces unique challenges as well. I am here to bring the Tarot as a window we can look through to see our own path forward. And if you identify as being outside the community, you are welcome, too. It would be interesting to see what a look through a different window might do.

My journey

I was born and raised in the deep South, in a very traditional Roman Catholic family. It has been my life's journey to find a place in the world free of the unhelpful and outdated understandings of my early teachings. I survived those early experiences, just as I have survived the AIDS pandemic, the COVID-19 pandemic(so far). I live every day in the world, just as you do, experiencing the joys and beauty, but also the attitudes and misunderstandings of the dominant straight culture. I have arrived at this point in my life determined to live out what remains of it in as helpful a way as I can.

The Tarot

My first Tarot reading, like may others, was more of a dare, when on vacation in New Orleans. I was spending a day in the French Quarter with a friend when we came upon a Tarot reader in Jackson Square. She was armed with little more than a well-worn Tarot deck and a blanket upon whitch to draw a spread. The details of the experience were not as interesting to me as the idea of divination through a set of images. It was those images, so varied and powerful, that propelled me from curiosity to a serious consideration of the history and tradition of the Tarot.

The beginnings of the Tarot go back several centuries, and I am yet to find an end to the mysterious ways it manifests itself when I read with it. I consider a Tarot reading time as a collaboration; we look at the cards together to see what ideas, insights and even messages it has to impart. Let's explore it together!
